Baghdad International Airport Road

The Baghdad International Airport Road is the main artery connecting Baghdad International Airport to Baghdad city and is considered one of the capital's most vital thoroughfares. The road typically begins in and around the Green Zone and runs westward toward the airport. It is a wide, relatively modern paved road with multiple lanes and a median strip, and features numerous security checkpoints along its length due to its sensitive security nature. The road is bordered by open, somewhat desert-like areas and is lined with military and service installations. The road is primarily used for passenger transport, official delegations, and air freight, and is one of the most heavily monitored and secured roads in Baghdad.
